Once again, the Jammu Kashmir Assembly turned into a battleground today. A fierce dispute erupted between legislators of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Aam Aadmi Party. The altercation escalated so much that it nearly led to physical confrontation. Leaders from both sides appeared ready to lock horns against each other, while National Conference lawmakers shouted slogans. The NC legislators took center stage demanding deliberation on the Waqf law.
The National Conference insists that a debate on the Waqf law is necessary. On the contrary, BJP lawmakers strongly opposed the idea, stating they will not allow it to proceed. When a halt to the session for the Waqf Act discussion was refused, pandemonium ensued, leading to a three-hour adjournment of the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly.
Confrontation at the Entrance
Outside the Assembly, at the entrance, altercations broke out between BJP and AAP legislators. Amidst the chaos, shoving and near fisticuffs occurred. BJP leaders accused AAP politicians of making controversial remarks within the Assembly hall.

BJP legislators alleged that during media interactions, offensive language against Hindus was used. Members of the PDP, present as audience in the Assembly, also clashed with AAP legislators over disparaging comments about Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Conversely, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Mehraj Malik stated, "What are they going to tell me? They were creating a spectacle outside. BJP people attacked."
BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa remarked, "A two-bit MLA will insult Hindus, let us show them today. An AAP legislator claims that Hindus drink and steal while wearing religious markings."

The Waqf Bill Becomes Law
The Waqf bill, after passing through Parliament and receiving the President's signature, has been enacted into law and is effective nationwide. However, its political contention shows no signs of abating. For the past three days, the J&K Assembly has been a battleground over the Waqf law. Initially, PDP leaders demanded assembly debate, which the Speaker dismissed, leading to chaos. Now the conflict has escalated to brawls and abusive exchanges.
