The winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly is underway, with all party legislators present in the capital, Lucknow. Members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with other legislators, are also in Lucknow, where a significant congregation of Brahmin lawmakers has heightened the political temperature despite the chilly winter.

On Tuesday evening, 52 Brahmin lawmakers and members of the Legislative Council from the BJP and other parties gathered and convened in private. This congregation of Brahmin legislators and MLCs took place at the residence of Kushinagar MLA Panchanan Pathak (PN Pathak). Dubbed as a 'community banquet,' it notably attracted legislators from Purvanchal and Bundelkhand. They insist it was a communal meal, not a meeting, with a clarification issued by Mirzapur Nagar Assembly legislator Ratnakar Mishra.

Ratnakar Mishra, MLA from Mirzapur Nagar, stated that Panchanan Pathak of Kushinagar organized the event. Approximately four dozen Brahmin legislators attended, and he affirmed there was no political discussion held. The gathering was solely for dining, after which everyone departed.

Adding more context, Mishra emphasized that there was nothing extraordinary; everyone sat together as usual, ate, and left. The event also saw the presence of Shalabhmani Tripathi and MLC Umesh Dwivedi, who are known confidants of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Notably, a similar event became a talking point during the last monsoon session of the UP Assembly.

During the UP Assembly's monsoon session, a gathering of Thakur legislators branded as 'Kutumb' also occurred, where BJP and other parties' Thakur legislators participated, perceived as a family reunion. This current meeting is considered a counterpart to that event.
