Bokaro police have unraveled a substantial case of cyber fraud, apprehending three cunning individuals who deceived a person out of ₹14.73 lakh under the guise of investing in the stock market. Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh reported that victim Uttam Kumar Sinha lodged a complaint on December 1, 2024, at the cyber police station.
According to the complaint, Ayushi Jain, Ansh Jain, and other cyber fraudsters contacted the victim via various mobile numbers, promising high returns using trading platforms like 'Meta Trader 5' and 'Meta Trader 5 Pro'. The victim was persuaded to deposit money into fake bank accounts, leading to the loss of ₹14.73 lakh.
This parallel investigation paints a picture of clever manipulation.
Based on technical investigations, Bokaro police conducted raids in Indore (Madhya Pradesh), arresting three individuals: Gaurav Juni alias Gaurav Panchal alias Ashish Yadav alias Suraj, Nihal alias Nihal Sonone, and Paras Marmat. Post-arrest, ₹14 lakh 33 thousand 80 in cash was recovered from the suspects.
Additionally, police seized a cash counting machine, a fake attendance register (containing information about alleged stock marketing affiliates), three mobile phones (iPhone, VIVO, and Oppo), 16 debit/credit cards, a driving license, and a vehicle RC book from the scene. Bokaro police regard this as a significant accomplishment and continue to pursue other network members.
The investigation highlights the sophisticated methods employed by cybercriminals and emphasizes the importance of remaining cautious against such deceptive schemes. The efforts of Bokaro police have not only disrupted a major fraudulent network but also serve as a reminder of the latent threats lurking within seemingly lucrative investment opportunities.
