Introducing Karan Bhushan Singh
Karan Bhushan Singh
, the younger son of the current BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, has been fielded in Kaiserganj after a strategic ticket reshuffle. Born on December 13, 1990, Karan Bhushan is a father of two and a former national-level double trap shooter. His academic credentials include a BBA and an LLB from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, along with a diploma in Business Management from Australia. Currently presiding as the President of the Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Association, he also chairs the Cooperative Rural Development Bank (Nawabganj, Gonda). This election marks his maiden political venture.
Karan Bhushan is not the only politician in the family; his elder brother Prateek Bhushan Singh serves as a BJP legislator.
Who is Dinesh Pratap Singh?
Beginning his political journey as a block chief, Dinesh Pratap Singh is now a Minister of State with independent charge in the Yogi government. His initial attempts in the political arena were under the Samajwadi Party banner in 2004 for the Legislative Council elections, which he lost to a BJP candidate. A subsequent try in 2007 as a BSP candidate for the Tiloi Assembly also concluded in defeat. Later, Singh tried his luck with the Congress party.
A Congress Stint Brings Recognition
Singh's tenure in the Congress party brought him recognition, authority, and prominence. Elected to the Legislative Council in 2010, his sister-in-law was appointed as the district panchayat president the following year. Singh was re-elected to the Legislative Council in 2016, with his brother becoming the district panchayat president. Also in 2017, one of his brothers served as a Congress party legislator for Harchandpur. By 2019, Singh's affiliation with the Congress party waned, leading to his switch to the BJP.
Contested the 2019 elections from Raebareli, lost to Sonia Gandhi
After joining BJP, Singh ran against Sonia Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as the BJP's candidate from Raebareli. Despite securing close to four lakh votes, he was defeated. Sonia Gandhi retained her seat with a winning margin of 1,67,178 votes. Singh received 3,67,740 votes while Sonia Gandhi garnered 5,34,918 votes, with both SP and BSP supporting her. With the second term of Yogi's government in Uttar Pradesh, Singh was appointed as a Minister of State with independent charge and is currently serving in that role. His candidacy for the BJP has been announced once again today.
