In a startling incident from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, unidentified gunmen claimed the life of BJP leader Pramod Yadav. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital. Pramod Yadav had been the BJP's choice for the 2012 assembly elections. He lost to Samajwadi Party candidate Paras Nath Yadav of Malhani, with strongman Dhananjay Singh's wife Jagriti Singh finishing second.
According to reports, the crime took place at Bodhapur Mod in the jurisdiction of the Baxa police station in Jaunpur. The BJP leader was shot by unknown miscreants. He was rushed to the district hospital in a critical condition but passed away during medical treatment. Police have reached the scene and launched an investigation into the murder.
