The Bharatiya Janata Party distanced itself from Lok Sabha MP Kangana Ranaut’s comments on reinstating the three farm laws. The party stated that she is not authorized to speak on the issue for the party.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia clarified in a statement, 'A statement regarding the farm bills, which were repealed by the central government, made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut is going viral on social media platforms. I want to make it clear that this is her personal statement.'
'Kangana Not Authorized to Give Statements'
He further mentioned, 'Kangana Ranaut is not authorized by the BJP to make any statement on this issue, and this does not reflect the party’s stance on the farm bills.' Meanwhile, Kangana shared the BJP spokesperson’s video, stating, 'Indeed, my views on the farm laws are personal and do not represent the party’s stance.'
Earlier on Tuesday, September 24, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, caused a stir by commenting that the three farm laws, which were repealed after prolonged protests by farmers, should be reinstated by the government.
'Farmers Should Demand the Laws Themselves'
Speaking to journalists in her constituency Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut said, 'I understand this statement might be controversial, but the three farm laws should be brought back. Farmers should demand it themselves.'
Kangana argued that the three laws were beneficial for farmers, but the government withdrew them due to protests from farmer groups in some states. She said, 'Farmers are a pillar of the country’s development. I urge them to demand for their own good that these laws be reinstated.'
Congress Targets
Congress shared the video of Kangana’s statement on their official social media handle, writing, 'The three draconian farm laws forced upon the farmers should be reinstated, as stated by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut. Over 750 farmers made the ultimate sacrifice, leading the Modi government to wake up and repeal these black laws.'
Congress asserted, 'Now, BJP MPs are planning to bring these laws back. Congress stands with the farmers. The return of these black laws will never happen, no matter how much Narendra Modi and his MPs try.'
