BJP Distances Itself from Nishikant Dubey's Remarks, Nadda States No Connection

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s remark about the Supreme Court has created political tremors. Dubey accused the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of being responsible for the ongoing civil unrest and alleged that the court was inciting religious conflicts in the country. Responding to these statements, BJP President JP Nadda has distanced the party from these comments.

JP Nadda expressed on social media, "The Bharatiya Janata Party has no association with the remarks made by MPs Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma about the judiciary and the Chief Justice. These are personal statements, and the party neither concurs with nor endorses such views. The BJP outrightly rejects such comments.

Furthermore, he stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party has unfailingly respected the judiciary, accepting its orders and suggestions, as part of our belief that all courts, including the Supreme Court, are integral elements of our democracy and formidable pillars of constitutional protection. I have instructed these individuals and everyone not to make such statements.

What Dinesh Sharma Had to Say

Regarding the statement by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey concerning the Supreme Court, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma remarked, "There exists apprehension among people that when Dr. B.R. Ambedkar drafted the Constitution, legislative and judicial powers were clearly defined. According to India’s Constitution, no one can direct the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, and the President has already agreed on this matter. No one can challenge the President as the President's authority is supreme."

Final Decisions Don’t Belong to the Government: Salman Khurshid

Congress leader Salman Khurshid expressed that any MP questioning the Supreme Court or any court is distressing. In our judicial system, the ultimate decision rests with the Supreme Court, not the government. This lack of understanding is disheartening.

Congress leader Pawan Khera, on social media, stated, "They lack faith in the Constitution and the judiciary. The anarchic rhetoric of BJP MPs is perilous for democracy. Such actions unfold with Modi Ji's tacit approval. The Prime Minister embraces 'anarchy,' and perhaps, with Modi’s silence or whispered consent, his MPs are inciting disorder."

AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi critiqued, "You (BJP) are severely misguiding the court. Do you know what Article 142 is? Dr. B.R. Ambedkar designed it. The BJP is deceiving and threatening religious warfare. Being in power has radicalized you to a point of alarming the threat of religious conflicts. Modi Ji, the nation will not forgive you if you don’t suppress such voices, and you won’t remain in power forever."

Meanwhile, Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi commented on social media, "Had an opposition MP made such allegations naming the Chief Justice, every TV channel would have held countless debates from morning till night. Our media adeptly sidesteps such inexcusable crimes. This is unequivocal contempt of the Supreme Court, and a small sign of respect in BJP for constitutional institutions should prompt action against its loud-mouthed MP."

Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar commented, "Nishikant Dubey has made very derogatory statements. I hope the Supreme Court takes suo motu action against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey soon, initiating contempt proceedings and sentencing him to imprisonment. Whenever a judge rules in BJP’s favor, they are sent to the Rajya Sabha, and now that one judge instructed adherence to the law, instructing governors not to sit indefinitely on bills, BJP has deployed all resources to defame judges and attack the Supreme Court."
