The Bharatiya Janata Party struck back at Congress on Saturday for questioning the authenticity of EVMs and the electoral process, stating that Congress leaders like Chief Ministers and elected representatives like Rahul Gandhi should resign and declare they will contest elections only after the revival of paper ballots.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia told reporters that such a stance would reflect their true beliefs in the issues they raise. Otherwise, their allegations are nothing but empty words. He urged Congress to take these matters to the courts, underlining that the Supreme Court has consistently upheld the transparency and authenticity of the electoral process and voting machines.
'On the Same Day Kharge Raised Questions, Priyanka Took Oath'
Gaurav Bhatia argued Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra should step down as they were elected through the same process currently under scrutiny by the opposition. Highlighting the irony, he mentioned Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's EVM concerns on the day Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was sworn in as a Member of Parliament.
'Congress MPs and Chief Ministers Should Resign'
The BJP spokesperson cited the VVPAT's flawless record in matching EVM votes. He stated, 'You demand elections with paper ballots. Firstly, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Revanth Reddy, and Siddaramaiah should resign. They should acknowledge their election through EVMs, which they allege are corrupt, and promise to abstain from electoral participation until paper ballots are reinstated.'
'Congress Will Be Confined to Pages of History'
Bhatia went further to state, 'Congress will eventually find itself confined to the pages of history books.' Addressing incidents of targeted attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, the BJP spokesperson expressed confidence in the Indian government's stance, emphasizing that India's strong voice cannot be ignored. Bhatia claimed that as the world's largest democracy, it is India's duty to speak up whenever minorities face persecution anywhere.
