In a strategic move for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, RJD has fielded Bima Bharti in the pivotal seat of Purnia, Bihar. Party supremo Lalu Yadav entrusted her with the party’s emblem as Bima Bharti is nominated as the candidate. Interest was also expressed by Congress leader Pappu Yadav, who had been vying for a chance to contest from the same constituency.
Bima Bharti bid adieu to the Janata Dal United on the 23rd of March. Following the viral spread of her resignation letter on social media, she found refuge in RJD by evening, inducted by Tejaswi Yadav. Former State Minister Bharti was a representative of the Rupauli Assembly area in Purnia district. Her absence from the Nitish Kumar government's confidence vote in the past month had her in the limelight.
