In a landmark decision ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a 35% reservation for women in all levels of state government services for native women. This reservation policy is applicable to all types of government jobs.
Announcement of Bihar Youth Commission's Formation
Additionally, Nitish Kumar declared the formation of the Bihar Youth Commission. In a post shared on X, he expressed, 'I am greatly pleased to inform that the state government has decided to establish the Bihar Youth Commission with the goal of providing maximum employment opportunities, and training, and empowering the youth of Bihar. The cabinet has approved its formation today.'
He wrote, 'This commission will play a vital role in advising the government on all matters concerning the improvement and advancement of youth in society. It will also coordinate with government departments to ensure better education and employment for the young people.'
The Commission's Role Against Substance Abuse
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated, 'The Bihar Youth Commission will consist of a chairman, two vice-chairpersons, and seven members, all aged under 45. This body will ensure local youths are prioritized for private sector employment within the state, and that the interests of those studying or working outside Bihar are safeguarded.'
He further remarked, 'An important task of the commission will be to develop programs for the prevention of alcohol and other substances that promote social evils and provide recommendations to the government on such matters. The state's forward-thinking initiative aims through this commission to make youth self-reliant, skilled, and employment-oriented to secure their future.
