The electoral excitement in Bihar intensifies as preparations for the assembly election are underway. Following the release of the final electoral roll, it is confirmed that Bihar boasts 74.2 million registered voters. According to last year's data, as of June 1, 2025, this number was 78.9 million. This indicates that 4.7 million voters have been removed, while the draft voter list released on August 1, 2025, recorded 72.4 million voters.
Statistics from the Election Commission reveal that 366,000 names from the draft roll were invalidated in the final voter list, while 2.153 million new voters registered through Form 6. To verify their names, people can visit voters.eci.gov.in.
You Can Still Apply to Add Your Name
If an eligible person wishes to add their name to the electoral list, they can submit Form 6 by applying at least ten days before the final date for election nominations. If dissatisfied with an ERO's decision regarding their name in the final list, they can appeal to the District Magistrate first, and then to the CEO under Section 24 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.

Deputy Director Apoorv Kumar Singh noted that this massive task involved the involvement of 38 DEOs, 243 EROs, 2,976 AEROs, approximately 100,000 BLOs, and a multitude of dedicated volunteers. Additionally, district presidents of all 12 major political parties and over 160,000 Booth Level Agents (BLA) collaborated in the effort.
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar commended the diligent and proficient initiatives that made this campaign successful. The commission extended gratitude to print, electronic, and online media for their crucial role in heightening public awareness.
Engagement with Political Parties
Throughout the SIR process, regular briefings were conducted with political parties to ensure comprehensive communication and updates. By July 20, 2025, the CEO, DEO, ERO, and BLO shared voter lists with the political parties at the booth level. Individuals reported as deceased or permanent expats were omitted from the draft roll.
Moreover, displays of the names not included in the draft roll were set up at DEO’s offices, and notifications were issued through the CEO’s office to validate entries. Emphasizing the exercise’s alignment with Article 326 and the ECI’s motto “No Voter to be Left Behind,” the commission ensured thoroughness and integrity in the process.
