The electoral campaign is in full swing as leaders ardently push forth a barrage of rallies and public assemblies, amidst which we are witnessing a rising tide of verbal missteps by political figures. The latest episode unfolds in Bihar, where a leader from Lalu Yadav's party, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), inadvertently declared from the stage that Rohini Acharya must be defeated. Lalu Yadav himself was present on the dais at that moment.
An incident emerged from Saran in Bihar, where Rohini Acharya, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav, is contesting on an RJD ticket. The public meeting that Wednesday was convened particularly for her campaign, and Lalu Prasad Yadav was specially invited to attend, gracing the stage. It was during this meet that RJD's MLC Sunil Kumar Singh was delivering his speech.
Correcting the Slip-up with a Swift Damage Control
Mid-speech, Sunil Kumar Singh misspoke, uttering, 'I implore you, fellow RJD leaders, to vanquish Rohini Acharya by a significant margin.' Nevertheless, shortly after this gaffe, he realized the mistake and quickly tried to rectify it, stating, 'Oh... I mean, ensure her victory so that even history remembers Rohini Acharya.'
Rohini, Marking the Second Daughter of Lalu's Family to Enter Politics
Dr. Rohini Acharya, by profession, is a doctor who married an American base software engineer Samresh Singh in 2002. Up until her candidacy from Saran, she resided in Singapore. Rohini is the second of Lalu Yadav's daughters to take the political plunge, following Misa Bharti. When Lalu Yadav was suggested a kidney transplant due to deteriorating health, it was Rohini who donated one of her kidneys. The transplant procedure was carried out in Singapore, where Lalu stayed at Rohini's residence. Rohini is also known for her politically charged posts on social media.
BJP Reissues the Mandate to Rajiv Pratap Rudy
Following the announcement of Rohini being granted a ticket by the RJD, she initiated her outreach campaign on April 2nd. Before embarking on her campaign trail, Rohini visited the Harihar Nath temple accompanied by her father Lalu Yadav, mother Rabri Devi, and sister Misa Bharti to conduct sacred rituals. Notably, from the Saran seat, BJP has fielded incumbent MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy to run for office once more.
