The Grand Alliance in Bihar is engrossed in discussions about seat sharing for the upcoming elections. On Wednesday, multiple rounds of meetings were held among the coalition parties. As per sources, RJD has put forward Tejashwi Yadav's name as the chief ministerial candidate. They have also suggested a formula of having three deputy chief ministers from RJD, Congress, and VIP respectively.
However, consensus on the seat numbers for VIP and CPI(ML) remains elusive. Due to Congress leaders being in Delhi, discussions could not proceed.
Under this proposal, RJD, Congress, and VIP would each have one deputy chief minister.
VIP Asserts Claims Over Allies' Sitting Seats
The VIP party has claimed a total of 12 seats, including 6 crucial ones currently held by coalition members. This includes two seats each from RJD, Congress, and CPI(ML). No agreement was reached in today's meeting regarding these seats.
CPI(ML) and Minor Parties' Demands
CPI(ML) is determined to secure more than 19 seats, aiming to increase from the 2020 formula. Meanwhile, CPI and CPM are content to contest based on the 2020 arrangements. Grand Alliance leaders are working hard to iron out agreements for these contentious seats.
