In Bihar, the Purnia Lok Sabha seat is currently buzzing with discussions. The reason is Pappu Yadav has defected from Congress and filed his nomination as an independent candidate. He is now fully engaged in his campaign. Meanwhile, he has accused the Nitish government of pressure tactics involving police raids. He has claimed in a video posted on social media that the police raided during his rally. However, the Bihar Police have denied these allegations.
On social media platform X, Pappu Yadav posted, "How low will the government stoop? How much more will they harass Purnia's son? The people will respond! It's satisfying to see the ruling BJP-JDU coalition's fear of losing! They don't have enough police force to provide me Y category security, but they can send hundreds to raid."
In the video shared by Pappu Yadav, there is a large number of police and security forces visible. They are seen taking action on a vehicle equipped with a DJ. Alongside, Pappu Yadav's supporters are seen protesting against the police.
Police Reached Pappu Yadav's Office
According to reports, the police raided Pappu Yadav's office in Purnia. Upon receiving the information, independent candidate Pappu Yadav immediately reached his office and questioned the police about who had sent them. Afterwards, Yadav told the media they were decorating the campaign vehicle when the police arrived without any order, and then they took the campaign vehicle to the station. Why is this action being taken? All parties have united against him. "We will request the Election Commission to appoint a special observer here. Even my security guard was removed. I am without security; whatever happens, happens. Why are you torturing me? I asked for at least one home guard, but no one is ready to listen," he stated.
All Parties Have Joined Forces: Pappu Yadav
In a conversation with Aaj Tak, Yadav said that when he joined Congress, they took away his security. "Once the nomination and scrutiny were done, why aren't they giving permission for the vehicle? When the campaign vehicle was parked at the office, why did the force arrive without any order? Then they took the campaign vehicle to the station. Why is this action being taken? All the parties have joined forces. We will tell the Election Commission to appoint a special observer here. They even took away my guard. I am walking around without security; we will see what happens. Why are you torturing me? I told them to just give me one home guard, but no one is willing to hear it," he lamented.
Pappu Yadav's Contest Against These Candidates
It's worth mentioning that Pappu Yadav had long expressed his desire to contest the elections from Purnia. But this seat went to RJD under the coalition, and Lalu's party fielded Bima Bharati. Following this, Yadav decided to enter the fray as an independent. Now, his competition is with JDU's Santosh Kushwaha and RJD's Bima Bharati.
