This year, assembly elections are set to be held in Bihar. Before that, the Election Commission (EC) has initiated a special intensive review (SIR) in the state. Today (Friday), the SIR draft has been released. According to the data from the first phase, 72.4 million voters filled out the census form. Previously, this figure was 78.9 million, indicating that a total of 6.564 million voters' names have been removed. Most names have been cut in Patna, Gopalganj, Saran, Muzaffarpur, and Bhagalpur, with more than two hundred thousand voter names removed in these areas.
Those whose names have been omitted or removed in the special intensive review by the Election Commission need not worry. You can follow some steps to add your name back.
Bihar Draft Voter List 2025: Not on the List? Here's a Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: First, check your name in the draft voter list
To check online, visit the official website -
or
. Select your district and assembly constituency. Choose the SIR Draft 2025 option and search for your name.
If you prefer offline, contact the Booth Level Officer (BLO) in your area. They will have a hard copy of the draft list available.
Step 2: Not on the list? File a claim (Fill out Form 6)
If your name isn't listed, apply to add it by filling out Form 6. You can submit this form online via the NVSP portal, the NVSP app, or offline through your local BLO.
Step 3: Gather necessary documents
Keep your necessary documents ready, such as Aadhar card, birth certificate, passport, driving license, or any other valid ID issued by the central/state government/PSU. If you were born between 1987 and 2003, documents of birth and parents may also be required.
Step 4: Utilize special camps
You can also benefit from special camps. Special camps will be organized from August 2 to September 1, 2025, at all block offices and municipal bodies. You can submit your form at these camps.
Step 5: Pay attention to the deadline
The last date for filing claims and objections is September 1. The final publication of the voter list will be on September 30.
Step 6: Get assistance from BLO
If you encounter issues with the online process or have trouble filling out the form, contact your area's BLO. For differently-abled and elderly voters, BLOs can collect forms door-to-door.
Step 7: How to file a complaint?
If your name was wrongly removed or if it's missing from the list despite submitting the form, contact the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Registration Officer (AERO) of your assembly constituency.
Step 8: Stay cautious and avoid fraud
Be sure to apply on time. After September 1, there will be no opportunity to submit applications. If the BLO or BLA fails to add your name after taking the form, make sure to complain. If you have doubts about the validity of any document (such as the Aadhar card), get it verified first.
