Biting criticism came from Congress MP and leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, directed at Bihar's Nitish Kumar government on Thursday. He condemned the brutal assault on a doctor in Gaya district and blamed the state government's failure for crime, unemployment, and migration becoming the true identity of Nitish's BJP alliance.
According to a report from a news agency, Rahul Gandhi's statement arose from a video shared by Bihar Congress on the social media platform known as 'X' (formerly Twitter). The video shockingly displays Dr. Jitendra Yadav, a physician, being ruthlessly tied to a tree and beaten. Dr. Yadav had provided medical aid to a rape victim's mother, which led to being targeted by the accused rapist and his followers.
Gandhi highlighted this case as evidence of growing crime and administrative failure in the state. In a Hindi tweet, he remarked, 'Despite 20 years in power, Nitish Ji's double-engine government has failed to give Bihar security, dignity, or development.'
He further pointed out, 'Crime, joblessness, and migration – have indeed become the real identity of the Nitish-BJP government. Their agenda is to incapacitate the public and perpetually cling to power.'
Rahul Gandhi branded Nitish Kumar's governance as a symbol of 'politics of power, not justice' and emphasized that the time has come to break this cycle of injustice and guide Bihar towards security, self-respect, and dignity.
This incident emerged at a time when the state's law and order situation has already drawn opposition fire. The opposition claims that criminals act with impunity and that the administration has failed to protect ordinary people. Congress demands immediate arrest and strict action against those responsible for the attack on the doctor.
