Their lives saw an abrupt change 18 months ago upon the demise of their father, the late Shiv Shankar Singh, who suffered brain hemorrhage, a severe blow to the family's economic backbone. As pillars of his family, his loss propelled the family into a financial abyss. Rajan reminisces fondly about the help extended by their paternal uncle post-tragedy. Emotional tears brim in the Verma household, remembering their remarkable fathers' absence when his sons etched their family's name in history.
Studying Amidst the Corn and Fields
Rajan's mother shares, "Even amidst paddy picking, Rajan remained unwavering in his studies." Rajan, sustained by a dream to become an IAS officer, credits his remarkable achievement to the unconditional support of family. Some days his routine involved fieldwork coupled with textbook work. "Belief is all that matters," Rajan mentions upon reflecting on their feat.

"During my preparatory days, my mother stayed awake listening", says an emotional Rajan. Inspired by televised past topper parents, she envisioned a day when they, too, could celebrate such victory.
