In the wake of Congress's decisive defeat in the Haryana local body elections, Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhupendra Singh Hooda, expressed that the loss doesn't matter. He noted that in the areas where the elections were held, Congress wasn't established previously. Today marks the results day for the Haryana Municipal Elections 2025, with vote counting having commenced at 8 AM. The province includes 10 municipal corporations and 32 other local bodies.
The trends so far indicate an edge for BJP, with Congress facing setbacks at multiple seats. On the party's loss, Bhupendra Singh Hooda remarked, 'A loss doesn't matter. BJP had already established dominance in municipal elections.'

'We didn't exert effort in this election'
He added, 'A setback from losing a mayor's seat might appear significant, but we didn't have those seats initially. Congress likely gained in some areas. It's possible that our councilor numbers rose from one to two.'
Acknowledging candidly, Hooda admitted, 'We didn't put in efforts for the election. I didn't go out for campaigning. I rarely campaign during Panchayat or municipal elections.'
BJP takes lead in several seats
Notably, an independent female candidate has emerged victorious in Manesar. BJP secured victories in Sonipat and Karnal municipal corporations, and has established a significant lead in Gurugram. Similarly, BJP claimed victory in Sirsa and managed to win in the Julana municipal area, represented by Congress MLA and former wrestler Vinesh Phogat.
