In Madhya Pradesh's Betul, six culprits who assaulted an assistant professor at JEH Government College have been arrested by the police. Confiscated from the attackers were pipes, rods, and other objects used in the assault.
The police reported that last Friday, in the Ganj Police Station jurisdiction, assailants attacked Sanskrit Department's Assistant Professor Neeraj Dhakad with iron rods, pipes, and sticks, causing serious injuries. Professor Dhakad was admitted for medical treatment at the district hospital and later referred to Bhopal for further care.
'Six Accused Captured'
Betul Superintendent Nishchal Jharia relayed that former student Annu Thakur and his associates Hemant Yadavanshi, Shivam Solanki, Kunal Chadhokar, Lucky Chauhan, and a minor have been apprehended. Interrogations are ongoing. Following Professor Neeraj's complaint, the assailants have been charged under IPC sections 307, 353, 333, 147, 148, 506. A video of the incident has been circulating on social media.
Pepper Spray in the Eyes: Professor's Ordeal
The injured professor recounted, 'I was sitting in the Sanskrit department when some boys arrived and assaulted me with sticks after putting pepper spray in my eyes. I recognize some of the attackers but not all.'
Meanwhile, SDOP Betul Shalini Paraste informed about the incident, stating that the attack occurred in JEH College, resulting in the assistant professor's injuries. A case has been registered against Annu Thakur and others based on his report. Additionally, six suspects have been detained in connection with the case.
