A formal complaint has been registered against Indian cricketer Virat Kohli at Bengaluru's Cubbon Park police station. The complaint was lodged by senior social activist H.M. Venkatesh.
Following the receipt of the complaint, the police department issued a clarification note. The police confirmed that a case registered under No.123/2025 is already ongoing at Cubbon Park police station, and the investigation is in progress.

The official letter from the police stated, 'We have received your submitted complaint. An incident concerning your complaint has already been registered under Crime No. 123/2025, and the investigation process is ongoing. Therefore, your complaint will also be investigated accordingly.'
This development clearly indicates that the police are taking Venkatesh's complaint against Virat Kohli seriously and including it in their investigation. Third FIR registered in the stampede case
A third FIR has been filed at the Cubbon Park police station based on a complaint by college student C. Venu, who was injured during the RCB victory parade at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4. The FIR states that a barricade fell during a stampede situation caused by overcrowding at Gate Number 6, resulting in severe injury to the complainant's leg.
Venu alleged that RCB, event organizers DNA, and KSCA failed to manage the crowd effectively and did not provide adequate security. The complainant also mentioned misleading information circulating on social media allowed entry without tickets, drawing thousands of fans to the venue. Meanwhile, police confirm the ongoing investigation of the already registered case.
Wednesday evening chaos
A stampede near Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday (June 4) evening resulted in 11 fatalities and multiple injuries, resulting in an FIR against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), DNA Entertainment Networks (the event organizing company), the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and other unknown individuals filed at the Cubbon Park police station.
Police have detained three DNA staff members, Kiran, Sumanth, and Sunil Mathew, and questioning is underway at the Cubbon Park station. Sources suggest that the investigation is being led by Sheshadripuram ACP Prakash. More information is awaited.
CM Siddaramaiah's action on police
Earlier, CM Siddaramaiah held the police responsible for the Bengaluru stampede, leading to the suspension of the police commissioner and several officers. Subsequently, Karnataka IPS officer Seemanth Kumar Singh was appointed as the new police commissioner of Bengaluru.
