A crowd also gathered outside the Naumahla Mosque. As the crowd became uncontrollable, the police resorted to a baton charge, scattering the gathered crowd within minutes.
Notably, Maulana Tauqir Raza had talked about sending a memorandum to the President via the DM regarding the 'I Love Mohammad' case and had announced the protest. The police were already on high alert. Thousands of police personnel were deployed to control the crowd.
