In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, a 24-year-old man allegedly ended his life at home due to marital disputes. The deceased, identified as Raj Arya, reportedly hung himself in his room on Wednesday. The family stated that Raj took this step due to harassment from his wife, Simran (23), whom he had married in April 2024.
According to Bareilly police, the couple was employed at private firms at the time of their marriage, but both recently lost their jobs. Just 45 days ago, they were blessed with a baby girl. The family mentioned rising tensions between Raj and Simran for a while. About 10 days ago, a heated argument led Simran to leave for her parental home.
On Wednesday morning, Simran posted two status updates on Instagram. In one, she mentioned filing a complaint against her husband and declared, "He will be in jail by 10:30 AM." A follow-up post stated, “Go to jail now.”
That evening, Simran's husband Raj Arya ended his life. His mother recounted that just before the incident, Raj told her, “Mother, I am going to sleep forever.” Initially, she didn't grasp the gravity of his words. Later, she found Raj hanging from the ceiling fan, plunging the family into despair. Upon being informed, the police arrived at the scene and sent the body for a post-mortem.
Circle Officer Ajay Kumar confirmed the incident, stating that further legal proceedings would begin once an official complaint is received from the family. The case falls under the jurisdiction of the Izzatnagar police station area. Meanwhile, the post-mortem is underway, and the family is heartbroken.
