Just before the fourth Monday of Sawan, a tragic incident unfolded amidst the throngs at the Lodheswar Mahadev Temple complex in Barabanki, UP. An unexpected electrical mishap from a pole in the fair area claimed the lives of two passersby, creating panic among devotees. This unfortunate event took place on a Sunday near the famous Lodheswar Mahadev Temple within the Ramnagar Police Station area.

Eyewitnesses recount how the incident occurred in front of stalls selling layi, chaat, and other snacks near the temple's police post. Suddenly, a strong current surged through an electric pole amid thousands of devotees visiting for darshan. This led to many getting electrocuted, triggering chaos at the scene.

Inspector Anil Pandey of Ramnagar reported the death of two individuals. One victim was identified as Sanjay, a 36-year-old from Gobraha village, while the other, from Masauli police station area, is yet to be identified. Both were rushed to the community health center, where they were declared dead by doctors. The bodies have been sent for autopsy after formalities were completed.

Upon gaining knowledge of the incident, the SDM, Tehsildar, and a large police force arrived to control the situation. The area is now gripped with fear and anger in the aftermath of the incident.

Local residents have accused the electric department of severe negligence. They argue that multiple complaints regarding the errant pole had been filed previously, but no action was taken by the department.

The administration has ordered an investigation, pledged financial aid to the victims' families, and hinted at reviewing the electrical systems and holding accountable officials responsible.
