Following the election results in Bangladesh, unexpected developments have unfolded. A high-ranking official in Yunus's administration has left the country immediately post-election, leaving the nation rife with speculation. Rumors and hypotheses have been circulating over the past two days. Faiz Ahmed Tayeb, who was the special assistant to Mohammad Yunus, was responsible for overseeing the Ministry of Postal, Telecommunications, and Information Technology.
It is believed that Faiz Ahmed Tayeb departed the country after receiving a summons from Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus.
The Bangladeshi newspaper ‘Prothom Alo’ reported that when contacted via his WhatsApp number on Saturday night, Faiz Ahmed Tayeb declined the call. He later conveyed via a text message, “I have taken leave from the office on the 9th and 10th. The ministry has officially bid me farewell.”
Departed Bangladesh on Saturday
He did not directly address whether he had left the country, but a close source revealed that he departed Bangladesh via the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday.

In addressing Faiz Ahmed Tayeb's sudden exit from Bangladesh, Environmental Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan clarified that the special assistant, who oversaw ICT and telecommunications, left for the Netherlands to reunite with his family after fulfilling his governmental duties.
Responsibilities Completed
Syeda Rizwana Hasan stated, "His state responsibilities have concluded, and he has returned to his family. If one wishes to create controversy, they may do so. He has stated his intention to return to the country."
Rizwana did acknowledge that some may be displeased with Tayeb's reform efforts in the telecommunications sector, leading to talk of his discreet departure. Rizwana mentioned that there is a faction within the country that tries to dramatize every situation and stir excitement, akin to this instance. It has no real connection to reality."
First Safe Exit
The BBC noted that this incident marks the 'first safe exit' for anyone within the interim government.
Previously, the ministry where Faiz Ahmed Tayeb worked had been rife with accusations of corruption and irregularities. His sudden departure has further fueled these accusations.
Faiz Ahmed Tayeb shared with BBC Bangla: His reforms in law and policy changes have faced backlash from certain elements, the mafia, and smugglers.
Tayeb had previously cited these challenges when facing allegations of irregularities.
Last year, Faiz Ahmed Tayeb faced severe criticism for sending a letter to the Anti-Corruption Commission advocating to continue a project allegedly mired in corruption.
At the time, he expressed to journalists his stance that failing to act would have cost the country 600 crore Taka.
