In Baluchistan, Pakistan, the Jaffer Express train traveling from Quetta to Peshawar is still under the control of Baloch rebels. While the Pakistani army has managed to free over 150 hostages, more than 100 remain captured by the BLA. Meanwhile, the BLA has released a detailed video chronicling the entire train attack.
The video released by the BLA shows the Jaffer Express proceeding normally until a sudden explosion halts the train. The video captures BLA fighters lying in ambush on the hills, ready to strike.
The footage reveals passengers being taken hostage and led out to the mountains at gunpoint.
The Jaffer Express, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, still remains under Baloch rebels' control. Amid Pakistani army operations, 155 hostages have been freed, and several rebels have been neutralized. A freight train was sent to evacuate those liberated from the rebels' clutch.
The Jaffer Express departed from Quetta towards Peshawar around 9 AM on Tuesday and was due to reach Sibi by 1:30 PM. However, an attack in the Mashkaf Tunnel of Bolan disrupted its course. The train passed through a mountainous region with 17 tunnels, forcing it to slow down—an advantage seized by the BLA, who blew up Tunnel Number-8 at Mashkaf. This derailed and placed the train under hijack.
The BLA meticulously planned this attack, with fighters from their most lethal brigades, Majeed and Fateh, lying in wait.
Security sources indicate that due to the Pakistani army operation, terrorists have split into two factions. The BLA rebels hijacked the Jaffer Express in Mashkaf Tunnel (157 km from Quetta), a harsh mountain area near the nearest station, Paherokundo.
The hijacked train currently stands in the Bolan Pass, surrounded by hills and tunnels, devoid of mobile network coverage, complicating rescue efforts further. Nevertheless, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif asserted the army's unwavering determination despite these challenges.
