In a significant breakthrough at the Ballia station in UP, the GRP police made a startling discovery during their train inspections. They found a large cache of live cartridges in the bag of a 20-year-old woman traveling on the Varanasi-Chhapra passenger train. Following interrogation, the woman was arrested. The sight of hundreds of cartridges in her bag left the police astounded.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, GRP (Gorakhpur Range), Savi Ratna Gautam, reported that on October 23, information was received about a woman carrying a substantial amount of cartridges on the Varanasi-Chhapra passenger train. The Ballia GRP conducted a thorough inspection, leading them to a woman seated with a trolley bag under her seat.

Upon questioning about the trolley bag, the woman confessed ownership. A search revealed 750 live cartridges, all of caliber 315 bore. Post-interrogation, the woman was taken into custody.
According to the GRP Deputy Superintendent, the woman confessed during questioning that she was transporting these cartridges to Chhapra, Bihar. She was supposed to hand over the bag to a contact there. The cartridge-filled bag had been given to her by a man named Ankit Pandey, a resident of Karimuddinpur, Ghazipur District.
The officer stated that, for now, the woman is being presented in court for further legal proceedings. Speculations persist about whether these cartridges were intended for sale to insurgents. However, only a thorough investigation will reveal the truth.
Earlier on September 28, a total of 825 cartridges were seized from Ballia railway station, and two individuals were arrested in connection with the incident.
