A Delhi court has granted bail to Inderpal Singh Gaba, accused in the 2023 attack on the Indian Embassy in London. Residing in Hounslow, West London, Gaba was arrested under the UAPA Act for allegedly carrying out illegal activities during a protest outside the embassy two years ago.
On January 29, District and Sessions Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav remarked that Gaba's involvement seemed limited to the events of March 22, 2023. However, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) suggested his participation in another protest group on March 19.
The court ruled, "The NIA failed to demonstrate Gaba's connection to the March 19 incident. He was neither present nor involved in organizing the protest. No evidence linked him to any conspiracy on either March 19 or 22, 2023."

The judge further noted, "The accused has a clean record, and his involvement in the March 19, 2023 incident is unsupported. Although national dishonor was a serious accusation, no charges of violence were raised."
NIA referenced a photo of Gaba posing with an AK-47 rifle to suggest criminal tendencies, but the court dismissed this, noting that no weapon was found except a photo in his phone gallery.
In today's world of deepfakes and Photoshop, almost anything can be fabricated. Taking a photo with different objects is not uncommon, and it cannot be used to label someone a criminal. Inderpal Singh Gaba was detained at the Attari border on December 9, 2023.
