The village of Nirpura in Uttar Pradesh witnessed a unique celebration as villagers gathered to commemorate the legal action against a retired police inspector for possessing assets beyond his known income. Rejoicing in this step against corruption, the complainant and villagers organized a grand feast for 500 people, praising the government for their action.
This celebration filled the air of Nirpura village with the aroma of tea, fritters, chutney, and kheer—dishes not typically served for festivals or weddings but for a noble cause against corruption. More than 500 people were invited to this feast, sharing in the invitation to celebrate 'integrity'.
According to the villagers, retired inspector Premveer Rana, who hails from Nirpura, faced charges because of a complaint filed by a fellow villager who openly stated, “Yes, I made the complaint... to teach the corrupt a lesson.”
This courageous act was inspired by an advertisement featuring Yogi-Modi, ensuring complainants would remain anonymous. Rammehar, an elder from the village, took up this responsibility, encouraging villagers to celebrate the Chief Minister’s decisive action.
