On the occasion of Diwali, the city of Ayodhya once again shone brightly, illuminating history with its spectacular display. The sacred banks of Saryu glowed with the warm light of over 2.6 million earthen lamps, earning two remarkable Guinness World Records for the holy city of Ayodhya.

A team from Guinness World Records awarded certificates to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, for these extraordinary feats. The first record was set by lighting 2,617,215 earthen lamps in a single event organized by the Department of Tourism and the district administration. The second record was made by a massive gathering of 2128 priests who performed the grand Aarti of Mother Saryu.

This magnificent spectacle not only highlighted Ayodhya's rich spiritual and cultural tapestry but also resonated with the unshakable faith people hold in Lord Rama. The grand event's success was a culmination of tireless efforts by local residents, over 32,000 students from Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, and the district administration. From meticulously organizing the lamps to ensuring their radiant glow, every step showcased the power of collective endeavor.

The mesmerizing glow of the lamps, coupled with the enchanting laser and light show based on the Ramayana theme, left attendees spellbound. The seamless expanse of lamps along the banks of Saryu seemed to bring the heavens to earth.

At the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that Deepotsav not only celebrates Ayodhya's cultural heritage but also symbolizes India's unity and spirituality. He expressed gratitude to all contributors for making the event a resounding success. Initiated in 2017 by CM Yogi Adityanath, this was the 9th edition of Deepotsav.

They Fired Bullets, We Light Lamps: CM Yogi

Speaking at the Shriram Rajyabhishek ceremony during Ayodhya Deepotsav, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath remarked that these lamps are not mere lamps; they symbolize the triumph of faith over 500 years of darkness. They represent the hardships faced over those 500 years and the struggles of our ancestors. Back then, Lord Rama resided in a tent. Now, as we celebrate the 9th Deepotsav, Lord Rama is enshrined in his majestic temple.

Without taking names, he criticized the Samajwadi Party and Congress for opposing Ram devotees and their attempts to halt the construction of the Ram Temple by engaging lawyers. 'They fired bullets while we light the lamps,' CM Yogi stated, underscoring a restored Ayodhya from Faizabad. 'Every lamp is a reminder that truth may stumble but never gets defeated. Destiny ordains truth to prevail, and it is this destiny that sustained Sanatan Dharma over 500 years, culminating in the creation of a grand and divine temple in Ayodhya.'
