Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi took the oath as the 8th Chief Minister of Delhi at Raj Niwas. Along with Atishi, five cabinet ministers were also sworn in. Four of them were ministers in the previous Kejriwal government, while one new face joined the cabinet.
The new cabinet of Atishi includes Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Imran Hussain, and Mukesh Ahlawat. Mukesh Ahlawat is a new face. Atishi, who studied at Oxford, became a prominent figure in the party and the previous government during the time when Arvind Kejriwal was in Tihar Jail due to the liquor scandal. Atishi, who was elected from Kalkaji for the first time, became the 17th woman to assume the position of Chief Minister in India and the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi. At 43, Atishi is also the youngest woman Chief Minister of Delhi.
