After the heartbreaking loss of his wife to a prolonged battle with a brain tumor, Siladitya Chetia, the Home Secretary of Assam, sadly took his own life within the confines of a Guwahati hospital's ICU. His wife had been receiving treatment for her illness over the last few months at the facility until she passed away on a fateful Tuesday.
An official report stated that Chetia, who served as an IPS officer from the 2009 batch, employed his service pistol to fatally shoot himself inside the intensive care unit, leading to his immediate demise.
Before being appointed as the Home Secretary, Siladitya Chetia had notably served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Tinsukia and Sonitpur districts and was the Commandant of the Fourth Battalion of the Assam Police.
