In Northeast India, devastating monsoon rains and floods have wreaked havoc. As far as the eye can see, water stretches across the horizon, blurring the line between river banks and village boundaries. Roads and pathways are submerged, with the Barak Valley at the epicenter of this monsoon wrath. All rivers are overflowing, and the Barak River itself has dangerously surpassed the flood mark. Boats have become the sole means of transportation for the embattled locals.

In Silchar district, most schools and colleges have transformed into relief centers offering shelter to those displaced by the floods. Similar distressing scenes unfold across the districts of Nagaon and Morigaon. The Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has surveyed the waterlogged areas and assured that the situation is under control with relief and rescue operations accelerating.

Arunachal Pradesh Suffers Similarly

Incessant rainfall has also plunged Arunachal Pradesh into a crisis, with Anjaw district—nestled on the India-China border—cut off from the world. Key roads to Hawai have suffered severe damages, with sections up to 150 meters completely washed away, trapping commuters and forcing them to move ahead at great risk. Landslides have disrupted electricity supply in various parts, prompting locals to demand helicopter services until roads are restored. Meanwhile, the administration has convened an emergency meeting to ensure vital services can reach those in need.
