In a recent meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), India strongly objected to the decision of not presenting the Asia Cup trophy to the team after the finals. During the meeting, India's representatives criticized the actions of ACC President Mohsin Naqvi.
Rajeev Shukla, Vice President representing BCCI, directly asked Naqvi pointed questions. He stated, “Why wasn't the trophy handed to the winning team? This trophy belongs to the ACC, not an individual. It should have been officially presented to the winning team.”
Rajeev Shukla emphasized the urgency of resolving this issue and urged ACC to take immediate action. He raised tough questions with Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and ACC Chairman, during the meeting.

Mohsin Naqvi's Justification
Addressing the concerns, Mohsin Naqvi explained, “I was standing there like a cartoon without any reason. No written information was received by the ACC that the Indian team would not accept the trophy from me.”
However, when the Indian representatives raised stringent questions, Naqvi responded that this issue would be discussed on a different platform, not here.
The Team Returned Without the Trophy
The controversy erupted when India secured a spectacular victory in the Asia Cup final. During the trophy ceremony, unexpected events occurred, and Naqvi took the trophy away instead of handing it over to the victorious Indian team. Following this, the Indian team celebrated without the trophy and returned home.
