The second match of the Asia Cup 2025 Super-4 between India and Pakistan will be played on Sunday, September 21. India claimed a seven-wicket victory in their first encounter this tournament. All eyes are on this rematch following the 'no handshake' controversy. However, the spotlight will undoubtedly be on the riveting showdown between Pakistan's fast bowler Shaheen Afridi and Shubman Gill.

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram believes Afridi needs to rethink his strategies, particularly against Gill, and not rely solely on his trademark yorkers. Speaking to broadcasters, the legendary left-arm pacer explained that batsmen worldwide have deciphered Afridi's tactics, so a Plan-B is imperative.

Akram remarked that everyone knows Afridi's planning. Hence, a Plan-B is necessary. One or two yorkers can be fine but not consistently two or three; if he misses one, it's likely to be hit for a boundary. Only two fielders can stay out, which imposes pressure on himself. I understand he wants to attack for wickets, but mixing in length balls is better.

The Afridi vs. Gill battle has made headlines multiple times in ODIs. Afridi boasts 275 international wickets and is known for dismantling India's top order in pressurized matches. Gill will play only his second T20 international against Pakistan on Sunday, but expectations from India's vice-captain will be higher this time.

For Pakistan, Afridi's bowling will be the most crucial key to containing India's formidable batting lineup. Afridi has claimed three wickets and scored 64 vital runs with the bat in three matches in this Asia Cup. However, his real task will be with the new ball on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Gill has not yet made an impact this tournament. Returning to the T20 setup, Gill has scored only 31 runs in three matches, including just 10 runs against Pakistan's Syed Ayub.
