Defamation Case on Prashant Kishor By Ashok Choudhary: Bihar's minister and senior JDU leader Ashok Choudhary has filed a defamation case against Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraj Party. This action came after Kishor alleged that Choudhary secured a Lok Sabha ticket for his daughter through bribery to Union Minister Chirag Paswan.
Ashok Choudhary’s daughter, Shambhavi Choudhary, is a Member of Parliament from the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) representing the Samastipur (reserved) seat. Speaking to the media at the Patna Civil Court, Choudhary said, 'Prashant Kishor has made offensive remarks against my daughter and me. I sent him a legal notice earlier, but his response was unsatisfactory.'
He continued, 'Prashant Kishor must either provide evidence for his statements or apologize. If necessary, I will take this fight to the Supreme Court.'
Labeling Kishor as a Trader
Choudhary launched a scathing attack on Prashant Kishor, accusing him of being a political trader who provides services to all parties for a fee, whereas we work with political values. I am a leader of the second generation, and my daughter is the country's youngest MP, which Kishor cannot digest.'
Ashok Choudhary's father, Mahavir Choudhary, was also a minister in the Congress government. He added that Shambhavi Choudhary was elected by the people, not through any kind of deal.
On the other hand, Prashant Kishor has not yet responded to this matter. Despite prior warnings, he did not retract his statements, leading the issue to court.
October-November Elections
It is noteworthy that the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar are likely scheduled for October-November 2025. Accusations have begun surfacing ahead of this. The current legislative assembly's term ends on November 22, 2025, so the electoral process must conclude before that.
According to sources, the Election Commission may hold the voting in two or three phases this time to avoid disruptions during major festivals like Diwali and Chhath.
The election will see polling for a total of 243 assembly seats. The primary political contest is expected to take place between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led Grand Alliance (MGB).
