Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), met with B. Sudarshan Reddy, the INDIA bloc's Vice Presidential candidate, on Thursday, announcing his endorsement. After filing his nomination, Sudarshan Reddy visited Kejriwal at his residence. During this meeting, Kejriwal stated that Reddy’s inspiring and impartial judicial career makes him a worthy candidate for this eminent constitutional position.

Kejriwal said that Sudarshan Reddy visited him today as the opposition parties' nominee for Vice President. They had extensive discussions on the election strategy and the current national issues. He highlighted that this election is conducted through secret ballots without a whip. I urge the MPs from all parties to vote for Sudarshan Reddy in the national interest, ensuring we have a fair Vice President.

We will strive to secure victory for Sudarshan Reddy: Kejriwal

Kejriwal affirmed that we will collectively endeavor to win the Vice Presidential election for Sudarshan Reddy. Further, he elaborated that Reddy’s judicial career has been highly inspiring, delivering impartial judgments in the national interest. I appeal to all parties to rise above party lines and cast votes in his favor.

The Vice President's role isn't political: Reddy

According to the news agency PTI, Reddy expressed gratitude to Arvind Kejriwal, stating that the Vice President's role is not political but rather an independent and fair constitutional position. He emphasized, I am not aligned with any political party. The office of the Vice President should not be political; it should be independent, impartial, and autonomous. This is why I accepted this responsibility. Reddy clarified that he is contesting not as a party candidate, but as a citizen. It’s noteworthy that the NDA has fielded Maharashtra's governor C.P. Radhakrishnan as their candidate. The Vice President post has been vacant since Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned on July 21.
