It marked their fourth consecutive win this season, putting them at the top of the leaderboard, ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders. Meanwhile, RCB faced their fourth defeat in five matches.

For the Royals, opener Jos Buttler remained unbeaten with a resounding 100 off 58 balls, adorned with nine boundaries and four sixes. At the brink of victory requiring just one run, Buttler sealed his century with a six off Cameron Green's delivery. Buttler's scintillating century outshone Kohli's effort, marking his sixth century in his IPL career. Alongside Buttler, captain Sanju Samson also played a whirlwind knock of 69 off 42 balls, including six fours and two sixes. Samson and Buttler's partnership of 148 runs for the second wicket was pivotal.

Kohli Hits His Season's First Century
Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first, RCB's Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis provided an excellent start. Their partnership accounted for 125 runs in 14 overs. Kohli completed his fifty in just 39 balls with a six off Riyan Parag. Du Plessis contributed 44 from 33 balls with two fours and two sixes. Following Du Plessis, RCB lost cheap wickets of Glenn Maxwell and Saurabh Chauhan.
Nonetheless, Kohli was unfazed and notched a majestic unbeaten 113 off 72 balls, featuring 12 fours and four sixes. This was the first century by any batsman in IPL 2024 and Kohli's eighth in his IPL career, making him the leader in the most centuries in the league. He is followed by Chris Gayle and Jos Buttler, with six centuries each.
