Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee’s president Ajay Rai launched a verbal attack on Smriti Irani, resorting to unseemly comments and even calling her mentally unstable. When questioned about Smriti Irani's assertion that Rahul Gandhi had a pre-nomination deal with the Muslim League in Wayanad to avoid displaying their flags - since, in Uttar Pradesh, Gandhi is forced to frequent temples - Rai didn't hold back and used offensive language against Irani, labeling her deranged.
He insisted that Smriti Irani has lost her mental balance and appealed to Prime Minister Modi to immediately seek psychiatric help for her so that her mental treatment can begin, and she can feel at ease once again as her discomfort and mental bankruptcy are evidently showing.
Addressing Irani's alleged promise to the people of Amethi, he accused her of declining mental faculties, suggesting she fulfill her promises before making further comments.
Rai was cagey when asked about campaigning for Afzal Ansari in Ghazipur, stating that as a congress worker and candidate from Varanasi, he will solely focus on contesting against PM Modi in Varanasi. He avoided commenting directly on whether he would campaign in Ghazipur.
In response to a video of BJP candidate from Mathura, Hema Malini harvesting crops, Rai criticized theatrical election-time gestures like harvesters, washers, and cooks, questioning Malini's absence during the previous harvest and accusing her of performing on the streets as well as she does on screen, urging the people of Mathura to recognize such behavior.
Rai's replies regarding Congress candidate announcements for Amethi and Raebareli reflected that they would be in line with the voice of the people. He also touched upon the unity among prominent Indian Coalition leaders and their plans for a significant joint event.
The defection of Congress workers to BJP over disputes with Sanatan ideology was attributed by Rai to 'agents' of BJP who operated within Congress and were exposed for leaking internal information. He claims they now resort to slandering the Congress at the behest of Amit Shah's team.
