The series of bridge collapses in Bihar shows no signs of stopping. Within just one week, the state has witnessed three such incidents. RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav has seized the moment to challenge the central government's accountability. Taking to social media, he lashed out at PM Narendra Modi with a scathing tweet, 'Tired of the horror brought by the 'double engine' government, three bridges have chosen to submerge in Bihar within seven days. Are these the divine acts you dub as 'Jungle Raj', Mr. Prime Minister?'

Thrice in a week, Bihar's bridges fell

Reports inform that within a span of a week, bridges in Motihari, Araria, and Siwan have come tumbling down. In Motihari's Ghodasahan block, a bridge being constructed at an estimated cost of two crores collapsed. Its concrete work had just been completed, yet this 50-foot structure could not stand.

The story was the same in Siwan, where another bridge fell like a house of cards. Locals were stunned that without any rain or storm, the bridge simply crumbled — a shocking incident indeed. Recently, Maharajganj's bridge, connecting Patedhi-Belsar, also met a similar fate.

On Tuesday, a newly built 180-meter-long bridge in Araria crumbled before its inauguration. Spanning the Bakra river in Sikti, the bridge, costing 12 crores, was supposed to be a showpiece of infrastructure. Tragically, its pillars sank into the riverbed, leading to its collapse. The local MLA Vijay Mandal pointed out that this bridge, erected with merely ground pillars and no approach roads, was not even completely constructed before the disaster struck.
