The BJP has nominated businesswoman Pallavi Dempo, wife of entrepreneur Srinivas Dempo, as their candidate for the South Goa constituency. Pallavi submitted her nomination paperwork to the South Goa District Collector's office on Tuesday, with Goa's Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in attendance. Documents reveal that together with her husband Srinivas Dempo, they possess assets amounting to nearly ₹1400 crores. The Dempo Group's business interests span from the football franchise to real estate, shipbuilding, education, and mining.
The declaration by Pallavi shows she holds movable assets worth ₹255.4 crores, whereas Srinivas's properties are valued at ₹994.8 crores. Her immovable assets total ₹28.2 crores, with Srinivas's adding up to ₹83.2 crores, including an apartment in Dubai and another in London.
Pallavi Dempo boasts a collection of luxury cars valued at ₹2.5 crores
According to her submitted affidavit, Pallavi owns three different series of Mercedes Benz cars valued at ₹1.69 crores, ₹16.42 lakhs, and ₹21.73 lakhs respectively, alongside a Cadillac priced at ₹30 lakhs and a Mahindra Thar SUV worth ₹16.26 lakhs. Furthermore, she reports owning ₹5.7 crores in gold. For the financial year 2022-23, Pallavi filed an income tax return for ₹10 crores, while Srinivas filed for ₹11 crores.
Pallavi possesses bonds worth ₹217.11 crores
Pallavi has investments in bonds valued at ₹217.11 crores, savings of ₹12.92 crores, and other assets amounting to nearly ₹9.75 crores. The 49-year-old BJP candidate has graduated with a postgraduate degree in Business Management from MIT, Pune University. The North and South Goa Lok Sabha seats are scheduled for polling in the third phase on May 7. Along with Pallavi Dempo, BJP's candidate for North Goa, Shripad Naik, has also filed his nomination.
Shripad Naik, the BJP candidate from North Goa, is a five-time MP contesting his seventh election. Post-nomination, Naik emphasized, 'The BJP government has significantly invested in Goa's infrastructure. Like in 1999 and 2014, BJP aims to win both parliamentary seats in Goa.' He declared movable assets worth ₹2.05 crores, immovable assets of ₹8.81 crores, and an annual income of ₹17 lakhs in his electoral affidavit.
