The Yogi government had appointed Aparna Yadav, the younger daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav, as the Vice Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women's Commission. However, it is being reported that she is not pleased with this position and has thus not assumed her duties. The Commission's Chairperson Babita Chauhan and its 25 members joined their offices today, whereas Vice Chairperson Charu Chaudhary had already taken up her position.
According to sources, Aparna Yadav is displeased with being given the post of Vice Chairperson of the State Women's Commission. Although she has not made any public statement about it, it is worth mentioning that Aparna Yadav joined the BJP in January 2022, and it has taken two and a half years for her to be entrusted with any responsibility.
Notification Issued on September 3
A notification appointing Aparna Yadav as Vice Chairperson of the UP Women’s Commission was issued on the evening of September 3. Since then, no formalities have been completed from Aparna's side. According to the notification, Governor Anandiben Patel appointed Agra's Babita Chauhan as Chairperson of the UP Women’s Commission. Alongside Aparna Yadav, Gorakhpur's Charu Chaudhary was made Vice Chairperson. Additionally, there are 25 members in the Commission.
Contested from SP Ticket in 2017
Aparna Yadav is the wife of Prateek Yadav, son of former UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhna Gupta. In the 2017 UP Assembly elections, Akhilesh Yadav fielded Aparna Yadav from the Lucknow Cantt seat on a Samajwadi Party ticket. However, she lost to BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi.
Joined BJP Before UP Elections
When Aparna joined the BJP before the 2022 UP elections, there were speculations that the party would field her in the elections, but she did not receive a ticket. There were several opportunities, whether for the Legislative Council or Rajya Sabha, where speculations arose about her being given some responsibility, but she remained without a major role. Meanwhile, she continued to meet with CM Yogi Adityanath frequently. This year, when the Lok Sabha elections took place, there were anticipations that the party would prepare her to contest from Kannauj, Mainpuri, or Amethi, Rae Bareli, but these speculations also faded over time. In the past two and a half years, Aparna Yadav has not been given any significant responsibility in the BJP organization.
