In a significant breakthrough, police in Punjab's Amritsar uncovered two international weapon smuggling networks. Four smugglers, including a 17-year-old boy, were detained during this operation.

Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav revealed that all accused were in touch with smugglers based in Pakistan, gathering weapons dropped via drones near the India-Pakistan border.

According to a news agency report, DGP Yadav stated that the smugglers were found with two Glock pistols, four .30 bore Star pistols, a .32 bore pistol, and six live cartridges. Police also seized the motorcycle used for delivering these arms.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sikandarjit Singh, Pradeep Singh alias Babbal (43, Amritsar's Antarjami Colony), Jarnail Singh (34, New Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, Amritsar), and a minor.

Amritsar’s Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar shared that preliminary investigations indicated Sikandar and the minor had direct contact with Pakistani smugglers due to their proximity to the border.

The retrieved weapons were reportedly collected by them at pre-designated sites near the boundary. Pradeep and Jarnail Singh are believed to be close associates of infamous gangster Ravneet Singh alias Sonu Mota, with these weapons intended for him by Pakistani smugglers.

DGP Yadav disclosed that in a similar operation, Amritsar's Counter Intelligence Wing arrested five more individuals under Pakistan's orders. They were found with six pistols, magazines, and eight live rounds. Police claim this action has thwarted a major criminal conspiracy in Punjab, and further arrests may follow as the investigation progresses.

This operation underscores the collaboration between security agencies in maintaining peace and thwarting illegal activities in the region.
