Today, Home Minister Amit Shah performed the foundation ceremony for the Janki Temple in Sitamarhi, ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was also present at this event. Amit Shah traveled from Delhi to Sitamarhi, especially for this temple's foundation laying ceremony. The Punauradham in Sitamarhi is believed to be the birthplace of Mother Sita according to ancient legends.
Amidst the beautifully adorned surroundings of Punauradham, Home Minister Amit Shah performed the ceremonial rituals marking the beginning of temple construction. Many people gathered to witness and participate in this spiritual occasion. The grand temple devoted to Mother Sita will be constructed over an area spanning 67 acres at Punauradham, where a temple known as Sita's birthplace already stands. The construction is planned to be completed within an 11-month timeline.

During the foundation ceremony, women from Mithila celebrated their joy through folk songs. They sang in Maithili, reminiscing stories of Mother Sita's birth and life.
On this significant occasion, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Vijay Sinha, remarked, "This is an expression of devotion towards Mother Sita. It instills pride in every resident of Bihar. This day will be marked as a pivotal moment towards a developed Bihar with Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laying the cornerstone for the temple's redevelopment."
