The court in Ajmer, Rajasthan, is set to hear a petition claiming the presence of a Shiva temple within the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.
This petition was filed by Vishnu Gupta, leader of the Hindu Sena. Subsequently, the Ajmer court has issued notices to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Dargah Committee, and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The next hearing is scheduled for December 20.
Filed in September, the petition claims there is a Shiva Temple at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah. It demands directives to resume worship.
National President of the Hindu Sena, Vishnu Gupta, demanded that the Ajmer Dargah be declared as the Sankat Mochan Mahadev Temple, and if registered as a Dargah, that registration should be annulled. He insists that a survey by ASI should allow Hindus the right to worship there.
Vishnu Gupta has been in the limelight before. He initiated a case in the Mathura controversy on behalf of Balakrishna and even performed a ritual for Trump's success during the 2016 US Presidential elections.
The Hindu Sena and Vishnu Gupta
Vishnu Gupta was born in 1980 in the town of Saket in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district. He attended Saraswati Shishu Mandir for his education before moving to Delhi.
According to the Hindu Sena's website, Gupta was involved in the Ram Temple movement at the tender age of eight. On moving to Delhi, he engaged with various Hindu organizations and joined Bajrang Dal in 2008, eventually founding the Hindu Sena in 2011.
It is said that the Hindu Sena has units throughout India's major states with millions of members. The organization's website asserts their mission is to protect Hindus from jihadis and social miscreants.
