The tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has cast a wave of mourning across the nation. Confirmed casualties stand at 265. The families of the victims are providing DNA samples for identification purposes.
On Friday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ahmedabad. He inspected the crash site before visiting the civil hospital where he met the injured victims of this heart-wrenching disaster.
Subsequently, PM Modi convened a review meeting with several ministers and top officials. He emphasized the acceleration of the crash investigation and expeditious DNA matching for the deceased. During his visit, he also had a heartfelt meeting with Anjali Rupani, the widow of the late former CM Vijay Rupani.

PM Modi spent approximately 10 minutes at the crash site, assessing the situation. Information about the accident was provided to him by key officials including Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu.

In the civil hospital, the Prime Minister met with those injured in the crash, offering encouragement and affirming support to ensure all possible assistance.

Prime Minister Modi Meets the Sole Survivor
The crash resulted in the loss of 265 lives. Out of 242 passengers on board, the sole survivor, Ramesh Kumar Vishwas, an Indian-origin British citizen, is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
In his meeting at the civil hospital, Prime Minister Modi engaged with Vishwas, understanding his perspective directly. Vishwas recounted to DD News that moments after the plane took off, something felt amiss. For what seemed like a daunting five to ten seconds, everything felt eerily halted.
He described how his location in the aircraft possibly hit the lower part of the building, causing him to fall with his seat. After a grueling struggle, he managed to extricate himself and was subsequently hospitalized.
