A dramatic arrest unfolded in Ahmedabad when a wanted criminal climbed to the fifth floor to evade the police, threatening to jump off. Identified as Abhishek, also known as 'Shooter', he livestreamed the incident on social media, demanding police retreat. A police officer also captured the entire event on video.
In the video recorded by a police officer, Abhishek is heard saying he would rather jump than surrender. Reportedly, Ahmedabad Crime Branch received a tip-off about Abhishek residing at Shivam Awas. Consequently, the police team arrived to apprehend him. Observing the police presence, he locked himself inside and refused to open the door.
Attempting to flee, he climbed out through the kitchen window and stood on the ledge of the building. The scene drew a crowd below. Sensing the situation, the police called in the fire brigade, and the team on the ground eventually rescued him, bringing him into custody.
When the police finally opened his door, Abhishek was precariously perched on the fifth-floor ledge, livestreaming the event via his mobile. In another video recorded by a Crime Branch officer as they coax Abhishek to surrender, he can be heard saying, "I know how you'll treat me. Better to die than surrender."
Following his arrest, Crime Branch Deputy Commissioner Ajit Rajian stated, "Abhishek, also known as Sanjay Singh Tomar the Shooter, was a wanted criminal involved in several crimes reported at police stations across the eastern districts of Ahmedabad. He had been elusive for a long time, actively avoiding arrest. Several teams from the city’s Crime Branch were on his trail. His presence at flat number 505 of Shivam Awas's X wing was confirmed through a tip-off on Saturday."
