An astonishing case has emerged from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, where a mother-in-law has placed a hefty price tag on her daughter's return to her matrimonial home. She demands a sum of 500,000 Rupees for the expenses incurred during the daughter's stay at her parental home. This has led to the distressed husband seeking help from the Agra police. The case is currently under the purview of the Family Counseling Center.

It's learned that the woman from Ramgarh in Firozabad district was married to a man from Iradatnagar area in Agra. Married in 2022, the ceremony was a grand affair. The husband is employed at a private institution, and they have a six-month-old child.

Everything was fine for the first few months following the wedding. But then, the wife moved back to her parental home. When the husband urged her to return, she refused. At the Family Counseling Center, the husband alleged that his wife had an illicit relationship with a neighbouring man and often visited her parental home with him. Whenever he objected, she would create chaos at home.

Spousal Allegations Fly at Family Counseling Center

The complaining husband shared that on one occasion when he went to bring his wife back, the mother-in-law demanded 50,000 Rupees. His friends managed to arrange the money by borrowing. Once paid, he brought his wife back home. However, not long after, she started quarreling again and left for her parental home with the neighbour.

On his next attempt to fetch her, the wife and mother-in-law demanded 5 lakh Rupees. When the husband refused, the mother-in-law ousted him from the house.

In contrast, at the Family Counseling Center, the wife stated that her husband abused her, prompting her to leave for her parental home. Following her departure, she had a daughter, incurring significant expenses from food to medication, borne by her mother. She has refused to return until her husband reimburses her mother the 500,000 Rupees.

The Family Counseling Center's counselor Dr. Satish Kheerwar reported that efforts were made to reconcile the couple to no avail. The wife remains adamant about not returning with her husband. Both parties have been given a new date to resolve the issue.
