There is a growing concern about the presence of 5,000-6,000 Taliban Pakistan militants in Afghanistan. Asif Durrani, a special representative from Pakistan, has claimed that the numbers could reach up to 70,000 when their families are included.

Asif Durrani revealed that previous dialogues with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan were futile, with the militant group TTP refusing to surrender. According to Durrani, these extremists neither capitulate nor accept the constitution of Pakistan. He added that they are also looking to avoid legal repercussions for their severe crimes.

Efforts to Integrate TTP into Society

The horrific attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar, resulting in numerous student fatalities, was conducted by the TTP. The Pakistani government is striving to assimilate TTP fighters back into mainstream society while holding them accountable for their crimes, yet the group is resistant to dialogue.

No Aid from Afghanistan's Interim Government

Durrani expressed that Pakistan solicited assistance from the interim government of Afghanistan to help facilitate a surrender by the TTP, but no support was forthcoming. In North Waziristan, Pakistan, terrorists assaulted a police checkpoint on Friday, claiming the lives of seven, including a lieutenant colonel.
