The latest developments reveal that UP Police has formally accused Atiq Ahmad's sons, Ali and Umar, in the Umesh Pal murder case. The initial investigation of the case had included Ali and Umar as conspirators. Despite earlier insufficient proof, the thorough inquiry has now yielded substantial evidence confirming their role in orchestrating the crime from behind bars.
Umesh Pal, a key witness in the murder case of the former BSP legislator Raju Pal, was killed on February 25, 2023. Attackers, allegedly associated with Atiq Ahmad, ruthlessly assaulted Pal's vehicle with gunfire and bomb attacks. The critically injured Pal and his two bodyguards were rushed to Rani Nehru Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.
