Thursday witnessed a vigorous protest by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs outside Parliament against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the CBI, denouncing the misuse of investigative agencies. The MPs also boycotted the President's address, stating, 'While we hold the utmost respect for the President, the address is scripted by the government, hence our absence.'

Advocating for Kejriwal's release, AAP MP Sanjay Singh remarked, 'The hasty arrest by the CBI right when the Supreme Court was poised to approve Kejriwal's bail reflects outright tyranny.'

Singh further stressed the need to halt the abuse of investigative agencies and called for Kejriwal's immediate release, emphasizing respect for the President but skepticism towards government-scripted speeches that glorify democracy while crushing it in reality.

'This poses a grave danger to the country's democracy...'

Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer of Punjab's Sangrur constituency voiced concerns over nationwide abuses by investigative agencies under Modi's government and the stark contradiction between their democratic promises versus the reality of oppression. 'From Delhi to West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra, the blatant misuse is evident,' he said.

He highlighted the unjust imprisonment of current Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Education Minister Manish Sisodia, Health Minister Satyendar Jain, and the six-month incarceration of Sanjay Singh without cause. 'Such actions threaten our democracy at its core,' asserted Singh.

Meet Hayer confirmed the initiation of AAP-led protests against Kejriwal's arrest and disclosed ongoing discussions with India Block leaders to amplify this voice with their support.
